With changing times and advancing technology, presbyopia has gradually attracted more and more focus and concern. Laser treatment to correct presbyopia, like that to correct ametropia, has been advancing fast in both research and the development of devices as well as in clinical practice, with techniques such as corneal laser, corneal inlay, corneal thermal remodeling and scleral gasification. However, presbyopia is different from ametropia (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism) in that refractive error in ametropia remains relatively stable when people reach a certain age. Presbyopia, on the other hand, is closely related to age. At present we are faced with a large population with presbyopia, and more and more people are looking forward to a surgical technique for correcting presbyopia that is safe, effective, highly predictable, and with a range that corrects for distance, intermediate and near vision.
