Abstract:Keratoconus is characterized by progressive thinning, ectasia, and anterior protrusion of the cornea. Subclinical keratoconus lacks the characteristic clinical or topographic manifestations of clinical keratoconus, and a consensus of its diagnostic criteria is yet to be reached. This review summarizes recent advancements in the diagnosis and screening of subclinical keratoconus, including the development of diagnostic indices of corneal tomography, corneal biomechanics, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) examinations, the integrated assessment of corneal tomography and biomechanics, and AI-assisted early diagnosis of keratoconus.
