Chinese Journal of Optometry&Ophthalmolgy which now renamed Chinese Journal of Optometry Ophthalmology and visual science (CJOOVS), Zhonghua Yanshiguangxue Yu Shijue Kexue Zazhi (ISSN 1674-845X/ CN 11-5909/R), which started publication in 1999, is the only academic journal of optometry in China. This monthly journal, sponsored by Chinese Medical Associate, undertook by Wenzhou Medical University, mainly covers the latest development in optometric, ophthalmologic and visual research or practice. It includes editorial article, special articles, original articles, clinical experiments articles, case reports articles and review articles encompassing all aspects of optometry and visual science.It is targeted at a wide readership of medical practitioners of all levels, students and staff of medical colleges and universities, particularly those who specialize in optometry, ophthalmology, optics and visual. It is distributed home and abroad via post offices and has been indexed in Chinese Sciences Citation Database(CSCD), Chemical Abstract , INSPEC Database, Index Copernicus Chinese Science Citations Index (CSCI), Chinese Scientific and Technological Paper Source Database, Chinese Core Papers Database, Chinese Medical Abstract (ophthalmology), Chinese Academic Journal (CD), China Journal Net (CJN), Wangfang Data (Chinainfo), and CBMdisc. Highly popular among the readers all over the world, the journal is collected by medical universities and colleges in China and overseas including American National Library.

By 2016, the CJOOVS has been awarded the first prize of best journals in Zhejiang Province for many times. In 2014, the CJOOVS has won the best practice prize of medical journal in Chinese university and college. It was also awarded the double-effective journal by Ministry of Science & Technology and Central Administration of Press and Publication in 2001(one of the two journals that won the honor) and the excellent journal in Huadong region in 2002.

The editor-in-chief Prof. QU Jia, is chairman of Chinese Optometry Association, former president of Wenzhou Medical University, dean of School of Ophthalmology and Optometry and president of Eye Hosptial of Wenzhou Medical University. In 2002 he won the Outstanding Youth Award. He is also the executive member of Chinese Association of Ophthalmology, chairman of Chinese Association of Ophthalmology and editor of Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology. To ensure the best quality of the journal, the editorial board consists of 132 best optometrists and ophthalmologists and prestigious experts from mainland China and Hong Kong as well as 11 famous optometry scientists from USA, England, Germany, representing the updated level of international optometric research.

The CJOOVS is a scientific publication of articles concerning basic investigation, clinical observations, clinical trials, case reports and forum on visual science of optometry & ophthalmology from the mainland of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries around the world. It is edited according to the international standard for academic journals with an English version of abstracts, index, tables and figures.
