Objective: To statistically analyze glaucoma subspecialty departments, equipment for diagnosis and treatment, and service delivery in medical institutions at the county level and above in China, and to provide a basis for the development of glaucoma prevention and treatment services. Methods: In this investigation study, all medical institutions at the county level and above providing ophthalmic services were surveyed by online reporting in the year 2015. Descriptive statistics was used for data collection and statistical analysis on subspecialty departments, equipment for diagnosis and treatment, and service provisions for glaucoma in medical institutions at county level and above. Results: Among 6 341 medical institutions surveyed, 672 institutions had an established glaucoma subspecialty (10.60%). Among medical equipment relevant to glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, the allocation rate of vision charts ranked first (99.30%), with an average rate of 3.28; the allocation rate of ultrasound biomicroscopy ranked last (11.50), with an average rate of 0.13. Intraocular pressure measurement, cataract surgery and trabeculectomy were the main services provided for glaucoma. Conclusions: Glaucoma as a subspecialty department in medical institutions at the county level and above needs to be strengthened. Equipment for glaucoma diagnosis and treatment are insufficient, and service capacity needs to be improved fully.
