Abstract In China where the incidence of myopia is particularly high, refractive surgery has experienced rapid acceptance duringthe past 20-30 years from radial keratotomy to small incision lenticule extraction and implantation of implantable collamer lenses, which have satisfied the demands for spectacle independence bya great many myopic patients. However, patients receiving early refractive surgery have gradually developed cataracts as time goes by, which implies that a post-refractive surgery era is approaching.In this era, Chinese cataract surgeons should pay attention to the challenges, which include an improvement inthe accuracy of intraocular lens power calculation in post-corneal refractive surgery eyes, the explantation of implantable collamer lenses, and meeting patients' demands for spectacle independence to the greatest extent.
