Research Progress of Peripheral Defocusing Soft Contact Lens on the Control of Myopia on Children andAdolescents

Abstract:Compared with the traditional drugs and optical therapy, peripheral defocus soft contact lens (PDSCLs) has huge potential on myopia control. Providing peripheral defocus visual signal may be one of the main mechanisms of PDSCLs controlling myopia progression. In this paper, on the basis of reviewing the pathogenesis of myopia, we discussed the effect of different designs of PDSCLs for myopia control with different follow-up periods, and the rebound effect observed after discontinuation of PDSCL use, and fnally put forward the problems and future development of PDSCLs in clinical application.
