Objective To investigate the relationship of central corneal thickness (CCT), intraocular pressure (IOP), axial length (AL) and corneal curvature (CC) in eyes with high myopia in order to provide guidance for clinical treatments. Methods This was a cross sectional study. CCT, IOP, AL, and CC were measured in 252 eyes of 128 patients with high myopia. The patients were divided into 3 groups based on spherical equivalence (SE). A correlation analysis of SE, CCT, IOP, AL, and CC was performed. Differences among groups were compared with an analysis of variance. Correlation analyses were conducted between the two quantitative variables. Results There was a significant difference in CCT among the 3 SE groups (F=256.9, P<0.05). There was a negative correlation between SE and CCT: SE became higher as CCT became thinner (r=-0.024, P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between SE and AL (r=0.895, P<0.01). IOP tended to decrease as SE increased, but the correlation was not significant (r=-0.216, P>0.05). CC decreased with an increase in SE. There was a negative correlation between CC and SE (r=-0.231, P<0.01). IOP decreased as AL increased, but there was no significant correlation between IOP and AL (r=0.312, P>0.05). CC decreased as AL increased (r=-0.291, P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between CCT and IOP (r=0.511, P<0.01), but no correlation between CC and CCT (r=-0.142, P>0.05). Conclusion In patients with highly myopic eyes, there is a positive correlation between SE and AL, negative correlation between SE and CCT, and no correlation between SE and IOP. There is a negative correlation between AL and CC, but no correlation between AL and IOP. There is a positive correlation between CCT and IOP but no correlation between CCT and CC.
