Abstract:A younger age of myopia onset and a faster development of myopia may indicate an increase in the likelihood of myopia, as well as an increased likelihood of low vision and blindness caused by high myopia. The prevalence of high myopia, which is caused by myopia acquired in school-age children that gradually worsens, will affect people's work, study and daily life. As a result, the high incidence of myopia in school-age children is not only a public health problem but also increases social and economic burdens in the long run. The prevalence of myopia in China is about 47%, which shows that myopia has become a national disease in China. The harm caused by myopia in school-age children in China is enormous. In recent years, the prevention and treatment of myopia in school-age children has become a research hotspot. This paper summarizes the prevention and treatment measures of myopia in school-age children in order to provide new clues for preventing and treating myopia in this population.
