Attention Should Be Paid to the Prevention and Management of Dry Eye during Perioperative Period of Corneal Refractive Surgery

Abstract:These years, more and more patients have been opting for corneal refractive surgery to correct refractive errors. With the continuous increase in the number of related surgeries, perioperative dry eye caused by corneal refractive surgery has attracted widespread attention. Perioperative dry eye caused by corneal refractive surgery can affect preoperative examination results, postoperative outcomes, as well as patient visual quality and overall quality of life. This article provides a detailed overview of how to prevent and manage perioperative dry eye in terms of corneal refractive surgery, which includes preoperative assessment of ocular surface conditions and personalized surgical design, mechanisms and protective measures for intraoperative ocular surface damage, as well as pharmacological and physical treatments for postoperative dry eye. The aim is to standardize the management of perioperative dry eye in corneal refractive surgery and provide guidance for clinical practice.
