Abstract Objective: To explore the optical coherence tomography (OCT) characteristics of foldable capsular vitreous body (FCVB) implanted in eyes with severe retinal detachment. Methods: Serial case study. 10 cases (10 eyes) with severe retinal detachment were selected for FCVB implantation in Beijing Huaer Hospital from November 2017 to March 2021. Preoperative and postoperative fundus examinations were performed by OCT in 1 week, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years. To analyze retinal reattachment after FCVB implantation by comparing the preoperative and postoperative results of fundus examinations. Results: Fundus photography showed that the fundus was obviously visible in 9 out of 10 eyes with FCVB implantation, and was lack of clarity in 1 eye due to mild corneal opacity. Postoperative OCT examination was found that a high-reflective optical strip with a thickness of 200 μm in front of the retina was in 10 eyes, the macular fovea structure was normal and the retina was basically reattached was in 9 eyes, and no retinal signal was found in 1 eye. At the same time, it was found that the gap between the FCVB capsule and the retina was small, and the retina was well attached by FCVB. Conclusions: After FCVB implantation, there is a characteristic high-reflective optical band in front of the retina, which is obviously different from the vitreous cavity and the retina. At the same time, the reattachment of the retina can be observed.
