Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the difference in visual acuity and visual quality after pars plana sutured fixation of two different sonofocal intraocular lens (SIOL). Methods: This was a retrospective case-observational study. Forty-two patients (42 eyes) unable to implant an intraocular lens (IOL) in the capsular due to trauma at Weifang Eye Hospital from June 2019 to June 2020 were enrolled in the study. All patients underwent IOL sutured scleral fixation via pars plana. Among them, 25 patients (25 eyes) implanted with Zeiss CT Lucia 601PY IOL in group 601PY, 17 patients (17 eyes) implanted with AQBH IOL in group AQ. Followup time was 6-12 months. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before and after surgery, modulation transfer function cut off frequency (MTF cutoff), objective scatter index (OSI) and spherical equivalent (SE) after surgery were analyzed by the Mann-Whitney rank test, independent sample t-test. Results: In group 601PY, there was no significant difference in BCVA before and after surgery (Z=-1.39, P=0.164). In group AQ, there was no significant difference in BCVA before and after surgery (Z=-0.36, P=0.721). There was no difference in postoperative BCVA between the two groups (Z=-1.24, P=0.215). Significant differences existed between the two groups in MTF cutoff and OSI (t=2.15, P=0.043; t=-2.22, P=0.038). There was no significant difference in postoperative SE between the two groups (Z=-0.65, P=0.517). Conclusions: Sonofocal IOL sutured scleral fixation via pars plana can obtain good visual acuity and visual quality, but the postoperative visual quality differences exist due to different IOL, The Zeiss CT Lucia 601PY IOL was slightly superior to the AQBH IOL.
