Abstract:Surgical robots can improve the operation accuracy, minimize hand tremor of the operator, overcome human physiological limitations, and enhance the effectiveness of minimally invasive surgery. Therefore, they were often utilized in general surgery, urology, thoracic surgery, gynecology, and other disciplines.Ophthalmic surgery was characterized by fne and minimally invasive operation, demands high precision and stability of both hands during retinal surgery. Thus, the application of surgical robots in retinal surgery had signifcant clinical value. However, retinal surgery based on micro-vision requires high precision and a small operation range, which puts forward special requirements for ophthalmic surgical robots. This paper reviews the working principles and technical characteristics of various ophthalmic surgical robots and the latest research in retinal vein cannulation and macular surgery.
