Objective To investigate the clinical outcomes of intrascleral suture fixation of foldable intraocular lenses (IOL) for correction of aphakia using a new small-incision technique. Methods Fourteen patients (fourteen eyes) were included in this retrospective case-series study. All patients had undergone suture fixation of intraocular lens implantation using a new small-incision technique. All eyes presented with disintegrated capsules that were not suitable for intraocular lens implantation.Main outcome measures were visual acuity and complications. Results There were no complications during the operations.Postoperative uncorrected visual acuity improved and best corrected visual acuity improved or remained unchanged in thirteen cases (93%).Postoperative complications included vitreous hemorrhage (1 case), IOL dislocation (1 case) and transient elevated intraocular pressure (3 cases). Conclusion A new small-incision technique for suture fixation of foldable intraocular lens implantation is a good choice for aphakic eyes with disintegrated capsules that are not suitable for intraocular lens implantation.
