Objective To observe the effectiveness of a combined treatment approach for am-blyopia and discuss ways to improve the efficiency of the treatment. Methods One thousand and six amblyopic children (1870 eyes) were treated with combined therapy in the hospital for at least 15 days. The treatment included optometric visual training using cycloplegia, eye patch, fine work, syn- optophore exercise and multimedia, et al. Data were collected from medical records from February 2006 to February 2008. Review time was from 1 to 3 years. Results In the 1870 cases overall, 199 eyes (10.6%) recovered fully, 1318 eyes (70.4%) improved, and 353 eyes (19.0%) failed to re-spond to treatment.
