Objective To investigate the correlation between anterior chamber depth (ACD) and refractive status in schoolchildren. Methods 1 025 eyes of 513 students aged between 7 and 14 who reside in Ruian in Zhejiang province were randomly selected for a cross-sectional study. Subjective refraction, slit lamp examination and IOLMaster measurements were performed in an outpatient room. Spherical equivalence (SE), anterior chamber depth (ACD), axial length (AL) and age were registered and the correlation between ACD, SE and age, as well as the correlation between AL and SE, were analyzed with mixed-effects models by SPSS 22.0. Results Average AL, ACD and SE were 23.68±1.09 mm, 3.48±0.26 mm and -1.06(-11.37~+6.25)D, respectively. ACD was correlated negatively with SE(?茁=-0.048, P<0.01). Both ACD and AL were significantly higher in myopic eyes than in emmetropic eyes. Conclusion ACD differed with age and refractive status in school-age students. Older students with myopia have a deeper ACD than younger students with emmetropia.
